I am from Groningen (The Netherlands) and this is my journey in photography.

Photography has always been my hobby, my main interests was taking pictures on holidays and sometimes in or around home. Eventually it graduated to wildlife and portrait photography. Which I combine on trips all over the world.

From starting with different compact cameras untill I’ve bought a Canon 550D DSLR camera in 2010 because of a holiday in Iceland. Since 2014 I’ve been making pictures underwater with the Olympys EPL5 system camera, which is a whole other level of photography. My holidays switched from sightseeing trips to diving trips all around the world. This shifted my focus within photography in the years to come after that.

The Canon 550D was less regularly used, my skills got better and I felt that the camera was holding me down. I’ve had the feeling of outgrowing my equipment. During the various Covid lockdowns I needed extra reasons to get outdoors and wanted to buy a new camera. Which I accomplished at the end of 2021.

With new gear and renewed energy to restart photography I needed some time to get used to the capabilities of my gear and myself. Through practise and multiple workshops I developed my skills and knowledge.

I’ve also managed to create a photostudio at home and the ability to properly print the pictures that I have taken. Having those options was not what I initially thought or needed. But that’s how it goes!
